What To Expect On Sunday

Our services are open to everyone. We welcome you to join with us at any time. Also, we understand it might be a little daunting for those who have never attended a church service before or are unfamiliar with our style of worship. To make it easier, this page gives you some idea of what to expect.

If you are still nervous after reading this, contact the office at 352-861-5577, and we will arrange for someone to meet you and show you around.

Before the Service

To begin with, you need to know where we are. Here's a convenient map and driving directions.

Services are held in the Ewers Center, the big glass building facing highway 200. We are on the first floor – signs and people will be there to show you the way! We have plenty of people who are here to serve you! Grab some donuts and some coffee and stop by the welcome table to pick up more information about us!

Should you need the "facilities", restrooms are located in the hallway from the foyer to the worship center.

If you have children from birth through 6th grade, we have a wonderful children's/preschool/nursery ministry. Located on the second floor, we have five different classrooms, all designed to help your child have fun and learn about God!

Dress as casually or formally as you feel comfortable, we're just glad to have you join us! Most folks are somewhere in the middle.

During the Service

Cross Pointe Ocala is a friendly church. Be prepared to be warmly greeted and engaged in conversation. When you arrive at the door you will be offered a Starting Pointe with an outline of the service, activities for the week, and a Connection Card.

If you arrive late, just help yourself to a seat. If you need to leave early, no one will complain if you slip out.

You may sit anywhere, no seats are reserved. The church is accessible to those needing wheelchairs or walkers. Once inside, wheelchairs can be placed next to our seats, in convenient locations.

We encourage people to bring a Bible if they have one. If not, the Bible passages will appear on the screen.

When it's time to stand to sing, the people on the stage will instruct you. If you are not sure what to do, just follow everyone else or, if you prefer, you can just remain seated throughout the service.

We tend to have a more modern sounding worship time. The guitar-driven music will get your toe tapping and your hands clapping. This, of course, is okay. You are under no obligation to join in any of the singing.

Children are welcome in our service. Believing it is important for parents, grandparents, and children to worship together, children are invited to our services. It is our practice to let parents and children decide what level of participation they feel comfortable with.

Sermons are Biblical in nature but contemporary in application as current topics and life issues are discussed.

You are not expected to contribute to the work of the church (that's our responsibility) so don't feel embarrassed to pass the collection plate without putting anything in it. Many church members contribute once a month, so you won't be the only one just passing the plate on. There is a connection card that we ask all of our people (not just visitors) to fill out. The connection card allows us to help meet whatever needs you have or answer whatever questions you have.

After the Service

The service should last between an hour and an hour and fifteen minutes. Feel free to take time in the lobby and get some more coffee and meet some new people. Stop by the information table again and grab a free book from us to you if you'd like!
